Moneyball

After looking at this Salary vs. Performance diagram you really have to wonder who the heck are the Mets and Cubs paying all that money to?!?
As of yesterday the Yanks have paid $136,149,920 for the 4 extra wins than the Twins. I’m not saying, I’m just saying!

Camden Yards video

I forgot that I had taken these videos and put them on YouTube

Twins Batting Stances

TBone originally recommended checking this guy out this past summer and I finally came across it. Pretty good stuff when you can get major leaguers to laugh at themselves.
This guys Knobloch and Gaetti is absolutely spot on.

Kent Hrbek’s Tales from the Minnesota Twins Dugout

If you’re a Twins fan who remembers watching the class of ‘82 (Hrbek, Gaetti, Brunansky, Laudner, Bush and Viola) mature into the ‘87 Champions this book should be on your list.
Hrbie is a throw back who always calls a spade a spade while discussing his baseball experiences, the outdoors and his family.
It was entertaining [...]

An open letter to Ron Gardenhire

Dear Ron,
Please wake up and smell the pennant race! While your players are willing to compete every game you’re finding ways to get out managed on a consistent basis. Please step up whatever baseball managing skills you have to ensure you don’t hold your players back from winning a pennant.
Last night your team [...]

SidCast

If you’re into PodCasts or just interested in the Minnesota sports scene the SidCast is a must listen.
Each week, Star Tribune’s Joel Rippel asks Sid Hartman five questions about sports in Minnesota. No matter the topic, Sid will set you straight.

I was never really a fan until I read his book. It [...]

Milwaukee, here I come!

It’s that time of year again, time for my annual trip to Milwaukee for the Twins and Brewers series.  If you haven’t been able to be a part of this series, or any series in which you can enjoy some tailgating with friends and perhaps watch a baseball game, you definitely should start a tradition.  [...]

New York Trip leftovers

I have just added some videos to You Tube from a couple New York trips. I wish I had gotten more video of the two Twins/Yankees games that Matt, Troy, Dave and I had attended.
The first two videos were taken in September 2006.

This shot from [...]

Circle me Bert

Dets if you run into Bert at Spring Training tell him to watch his mouth. This happened when Jimmy, TBone, Dets and myself were in NYC and @ Yankee Stadium.

Bert was suspended for 5 games due to expletives spoken on-air.

So long Santana

Interesting! Looks like the Twins are again raiding obscure talent from the Mets farm system. Remember this:
July 30, 2007: Traded second baseman Luis Castillo to the New York Mets for minor league prospects Drew Butera (catcher) and Dustin Martin (center fielder).
I just hope the trade is half as good as the Pierzynski trade:
November 14, 2003: [...]
